Our journey began with a simple question:

“ How to make Standard Picture Frames easier – safer – and more versatile?”

Three High School Friends (class of ‘76) and their families decided to improve on a concept that has remained the same for more than 100 years – the standard picture frame.

The problem is multi-faceted.  First, standard frames usually have glass and require some type of nail or nail and wire system to mount to walls which require constant adjustment to keep level.  Second,   changing the picture requires removing the frame from the wall and dealing with those nasty steel pieces that are used to hold the backing and the glass in the frame.  Third, most frames have glued or stapled mitered corners which fall apart or separate over time  and it is  hard to get the same frame from the same store to match your existing frame a few  months after you purchased your first frame because the retailer has purchased the cheapest import they could find.  Finally,  dealing with the pieces of covered cardboard many frames use for desktop presentation can be problematic and if you ever want to put one of those frames on the wall you have to tear off the covered cardboard.  Enough ! Time for a change and the Brilliant Frame was born.

We employed classical  engineering principals with one vision – to create a product that was manufactured in the USA  – one solid piece construction – was front loading  – holds up to 20 pictures – incorporated state of the art materials to eliminate the safety concerns associated with glass – mounted to virtually any surface without nails, utilizing a proven product – Velcro.  Patents were filed, prototypes were built (to many to count!), and focus groups came and gave valuable input.

Finally, we had a product that is a new and innovative solution to framing.  And today, we have the next revolution in framing – The Brilliant Frame !
